Vietnam Seeks Early Signing of Trade Deal with EFTA

Vietnam: Vietnam will continue working closely with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states to sign their free trade agreement (FTA) at an early date and effectively implement its commitments, paving the way for stronger trade and investment ties while expanding cooperation in the areas of mutual interest. Spokeswoman of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang made the remarks in response to reporters' questions about the conclusion of the Vietnam-EFTA FTA, at the ministry's regular press briefing on July 9.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnamese government is keen on expediting the negotiation process to finalize the agreement with EFTA, which is composed of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. The agreement aims to enhance economic collaboration and open new markets for Vietnamese goods and services, while also providing EFTA countries with greater access to Vietnam's rapidly growing market.

Both Vietnam and EFTA member states are optimistic that the FTA will contribute significantly to their economic objectives. The agreement is expected to provide a framework for cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and services, thus fostering a robust economic partnership.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the importance of the FTA in strengthening Vietnam's position in the international market and bolstering its economic growth. The collaboration with EFTA is seen as a strategic move to diversify Vietnam's trade relationships and reduce reliance on traditional markets.
