Hanoi: Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has called for closer and more effective cooperation between the Vietnam Center and Sam Johnson Vietnam Archive (VNCA) at Texas Tech University and the Vietnamese Wartime Accounting Initiative (VWAI). The aim is to assist Vietnam in searching for and repatriating the remains of fallen soldiers so they can rest in their homeland. The Deputy PM made these remarks while receiving a delegation from Texas Tech University, led by VNCA Director Dr. Stephen Maxner, during their working visit to Vietnam on June 13.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the collaboration is expected to enhance the ongoing efforts in locating and identifying the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who lost their lives in the war. The Deputy PM emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting the emotional and cultural significance of bringing the martyrs back to their native soil. The visit by Dr. Maxner and his team underscores the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in this humanitarian endeavor.
