Vietnam, US Strengthen Cooperation to Ease Suffering of AO/Dioxin Victims

Kuala lumpur: A delegation from the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin's chapter in Ho Chi Minh City (VAVA HCMC), led by its Chairman Major General Nguyen Hong Son, held working sessions with several key figures and organizations in the United States. These sessions, which took place from August 12-14, aimed to bolster cooperation in addressing the issues faced by victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the delegation engaged in discussions with US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Veterans for Peace (VFP), legal experts, and various social organizations. The meetings focused on collaborative efforts to ease the suffering of those affected by Agent Orange/dioxin, a toxic chemical used during the Vietnam War that has had long-lasting health effects on both Vietnamese and American veterans.

The discussions emphasized the importance of continued support and cooperation between the two countries' organizations to address the ongoing challenges faced by victims. The delegation also explored legal avenues and the role of social organizations in advocating for the rights and welfare of the affected individuals.

The visit highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to addressing the humanitarian consequences of the historical use of Agent Orange/dioxin and underscored the need for sustained efforts to support the victims and their families.
