Vietnam’s Seafood Exports Surge to 2.45 Billion USD in Q1

Hanoi: Vietnam’s seafood exports staged a recovery in the first quarter, reaching a total value of 2.45 billion USD, up 26% year-on-year. Shrimp and tra fish remained the key drivers of growth. By the end of Q1, shrimp exports totalled 931.6 million USD, an increase of 35.7% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, tra fish exports contributed 465 million USD, an annual rise of 13%.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) highlighted the contributions of shrimp and tra fish to this growth. These sectors showed significant increases, with shrimp leading the rise, followed by tra fish, bolstering the export figures for the quarter.

The Vietnamese seafood industry has been working on expanding its market reach and improving its production capabilities, which has positively impacted the export numbers. This growth comes amidst efforts to overcome challenges posed by previous global disruptions, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of the industry.
