Hanoi: Wastefulness remains popular in Vietnam, causing serious consequences, Prime Minister Pham Minh said while chairing the first meeting of the Steering Committee for Wastefulness Prevention and Control held in Hanoi on February 25.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Prime Minister Pham Minh emphasized the urgent need to address the rampant issue of wastefulness in the country. The meeting marked the beginning of concerted efforts by the government to curb practices that lead to significant resource wastage, with the aim of implementing effective measures for prevention and control.

The Steering Committee, newly established under the Prime Minister’s directive, is tasked with developing strategies to reduce wasteful practices across various sectors. It will focus on creating awareness, promoting efficient resource use, and instituting stringent guidelines to ensure compliance.

Prime Minister Pham Minh called for the active participation of all governmental departments and the public in the initiative. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to foster a culture of conservation and efficiency, which is crucial for the sustainable development of Vietnam.
