Can Tho: The World Bank is committed to mobilizing additional non-refundable aid to support Vietnam’s project on developing one million hectares of high-quality and low-carbon rice linked to green growth in the Mekong Delta region, a senior World Bank official has stated. Shobha Shetty, the Global Director of the Agriculture and Food Global Practice at the World Bank, made the announcement during her field trip to a rice cultivation site at New Green Farm Cooperative in Thot Not district, Can Tho city.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the World Bank is aiding Vietnam in accessing the Transformative Carbon Asset Facility (TCAF) and is preparing a technical and infrastructure support project for high-quality, low-emission rice production in the Mekong Delta. This support project will be financed through World Bank loans, highlighting the organization’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
