Hue Races Against Time to Build Homes for Families Ahead of Tet

Vinh long: In the chilly, rain-soaked days of early 2026 in Hue, local officials, armed forces, and residents are hustling under the Quang Trung Campaign to finish building new homes, ensuring flood-hit families have a safe place to stay in time for the Lunar New Year festival (Tet). In Hue, storms and floods that struck in the final months of 2025 caused five houses to collapse completely and damaged nine others. In Khe Tre commune alone, three homes were destroyed, and seven suffered serious damage requiring repairs. In addition, 91 households were affected by landslides or face a high risk of landslides, necessitating urgent relocation.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the efforts are a race against time as the Tet festival approaches, prompting an urgent response from the community and local authorities. The campaign not only focuses on rebuilding homes but also aims to relocate families from high-risk areas to safer locations, ensuring their safety and stability. The initiative is seen as a critical step in recovering from the natural disasters that have left many families vulnerable and homeless.

The homes being constructed are designed to withstand future floods and storms, providing a long-term solution to the area's vulnerability. The collaboration between government agencies and local communities highlights a collective commitment to support those affected by natural calamities and to strengthen the region's resilience against future disasters.
