Paris: Hundreds of teachers, researchers, and representatives of community organisations, and advocates of Vietnamese-language education gathered at a forum on preserving Vietnamese language and culture abroad, held on June 21 at the Vietnam Cultural Centre in France. Organised to celebrate the fifth founding anniversary of the Global Network for Vietnamese Language and Culture Teaching, the hybrid event brought together nearly 50 in-person participants from France, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Ukraine, alongside online attendees from Vietnam and other countries.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the forum served as a pivotal platform for discussing strategies to enhance the teaching of the Vietnamese language globally. Participants shared insights and best practices on language preservation, highlighting the crucial role of cultural education in maintaining linguistic heritage among Vietnamese communities living abroad. The event also emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among educators and community leaders to promote and sustain Vietnamese language education.
The gathering underscored the challenges faced by Vietnamese language educators, particularly in non-native environments, and explored innovative teaching methodologies to address these hurdles.
