Hanoi: Vietnam recorded positive developments in public order and safety between January and June, with crimes against social order falling by 22.55% compared to the same period last year, according to a press conference held on July 7 by the Ministry of Public Security. In the field of economic crime, 2,096 cases involving 4,194 suspects were prosecuted. For corruption and position-related crimes, 370 cases and 1,042 suspects were brought to trial. Meanwhile, police uncovered 11,687 drug-related cases involving 22,863 individuals.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the Ministry of Public Security highlighted the significant decrease in crimes against social order as a result of enhanced law enforcement efforts and community cooperation. The report also detailed the prosecution of economic crimes, which saw over two thousand cases and nearly 4,200 individuals facing legal action.
Additionally, the press conference noted the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and position-related offenses, with 370 cases leading to trials involving more than a thousand suspects. The authorities remain vigilant against drug-related activities, having identified nearly 12,000 cases and apprehended over 22,800 individuals linked to narcotics.
The Ministry of Public Security emphasized its commitment to further reducing crime rates and enhancing public safety through continued collaboration with various sectors of society.
