NA Chairman’s Australia, New Zealand visits to propel ties with strategic partners

A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, led by its Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, will pay official visits to Australia and New Zealand from November 30 to December 7 at the invitations of Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Milton Dick, President of the Australian Senate Sue Lines and Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives Adrian Rurawhe.

Australia is a strategic partner of Vietnam in the South Pacific. Cooperation between the two countries is developing effectively in various areas while the exchange of delegations and high-level meetings has been maintained.

Bilateral cooperation mechanisms are flexibly deployed in both face-to-face and online formats. Most recently, Vietnam conducted the fourth foreign ministerial-level meeting with Australia in September and is promoting the organisation of the third Vietnam-Australia Prime Ministers’ Meeting. The bilateral Plan of Action for the 2020-2023 period has reaped concrete results.

Despite impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, two-way trade grew nearly 50% to 12.4 billion USD. The figure soared by 31.5% annually in the first nine months of this year to 12 billion USD.

On October 25, Australia announced its budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Accordingly, the country will increase ODA for Vietnam to 92.8 million AUD compared to 78.9 million AUD in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

In the fight against COVID-19, Australia provided over 26.4 million vaccine doses for Vietnam, including 12 million doses for adults and over 14.4 million for children, becoming the second biggest vaccine provider for Vietnam, behind the US.

Collaboration in national defence, security, education-training, labour,  and agriculture is developing fruitfully. Notably, the two countries have paid attention to advancing new cooperation fields such as climate change response, digital transformation and energy transition.

Australia expressed its wish to upgrade the bilateral relations on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

Cooperative ties between the Vietnamese NA and the Parliament of Australia have also been developing, both bilaterally and multilaterally, making important contributions to the relationship between the two nations. The 15th Vietnamese legislature established the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group in October.

Though the exchange of high-level visits and exchanges between committees and friendship parliamentarians groups were disrupted by COVID-19 during 2019-2021, both sides shared information on legislation, supervision and decided on important national issues via phone talks. They also agreed to strengthen their coordination and direct ministries, agencies, localities and enterprises to carry out agreements signed between the two countries, contributing to deepening the bilateral strategic partnership in a more practical and effective manner.

At regional and global inter-parliamentary forums, the two countries’ lawmakers also offered mutual support on regional and global issues of shared concern.

New Zealand is also a strategic partner of Vietnam in South Pacific, with the bilateral ties growing in different fields. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exchange of delegations was suspended during 2021-2022 but high-level conversations have been still maintained and bilateral cooperation mechanisms have been deployed in both online and offline forms.

The 2021-2024 Action of Plan with New Zealand to realise the bilateral strategic partnership has seen positive results.

In economic terms, Vietnam and New Zealand are both members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). New Zealand is now the 36th largest trading partner of Vietnam. Two-way trade reached 1.3 billion USD last year, up 26.7% year-on-year. The figure increased by 13.6% year on year to 1.1 billion USD in the first nine months of this year.

New Zealand also approved the supply of ODA worth 26.7 million NZD for Vietnam during 2021-2024, equivalent to the sum in the 2018-2021 period. The country also supplied 30,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses and 2 million NZD in post-pandemic relief aid to Vietnam.

There remains ample room to further boost coordination in national defence, security, education-training, labour and agriculture. In particular, the two countries are interested in new cooperation areas such as climate change response, digital transformation and energy transition.

Though few visits were paid due to COVID-19, leaders of the two legislatures still maintained all-level meetings on the sidelines of regional and international conferences.

At regional and gblobal inter-parliamentary forums, the two countries’ delegations of lawmakers regularly discussed and supported each other on regional and national issues of mutual concern. The 15th Vietnamese NA continued to establish the Vietnam – New Zealand Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group and maintained information exchange with the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam.

Talking with the press ahead of the visits, Chairman of the Vietnamese NA’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha said during the upcoming trips, Chairman Hue is scheduled to hold talks with senior leaders of Australia and New Zealand to discuss measures to promote their bilateral ties in various areas, particularly cooperation between the lawmaking bodies, and exchange views on regional and global issues of shared concern.

Aiming to deploy the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, the visits to Australia and New Zealand will be the first by a senior leader since Vietnam and the two countries fully reopened their doors following the pandemic and also the first made by Hue in his capacity as Chairman of the Vietnamese NA./.

Indonesia restarts multiple-entry visa programme

Indonesia has resumed the multiple-entry visa programme that was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Acting Director-General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana, the pandemic has posed adverse impacts on the Indonesian economy.

With the resumption of the visa programme, businesses and foreign tourists are allowed to travel to Indonesia many times a year without re-applying for a visa, Ekatjahjana said.

Every time they visit Indonesia, they can stay for a maximum of 60 days, added Ekatjahjana.

Holders of this visa are allowed to enter and leave Indonesia in Riau Islands province and they are free to visit other areas in this Southeast Asian country during the stay.

After a period of applying restriction measures to prevent COVID-19, Indonesia is working to recover its tourism sector and attract foreign visitors and investors.

Earlier this month, the country introduced the electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA) for foreigners on website molina.imigrasi.go.id to facilitate foreign arrivals./.

NWTN UAE Electric Vehicle Assembly Facility to Be Completed in Q4

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 28, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NWTN Inc. (Nasdaq: NWTN), an eco-conscious mobility technology company bringing passenger-centric green premium mobility solutions to the world, today announced that construction on its UAE electric vehicle assembly facility in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) is on schedule and will be completed in Q4 of 2022.

NWTN signed a lease agreement with KEZAD Group for the facility, which measures approximately 270,000 square feet, in September of 2022 to establish NWTN’s first EV assembly facility in Abu Dhabi. The facility will serve the growing demand for sustainable transport options in the Middle East and beyond, and will play an important role in promoting new energy mobility and sustainable energy transformation in the UAE and the Middle East.

Founded in 2016, NWTN is headquartered in the UAE and aims to integrate avant-garde design, life-style personalization, IoT connectivity, autonomous driving technology, and green energy eco-systems to its future mobility solutions.

NWTN plans to initially operate the facility for manufacturing, research and development, vehicle testing and logistics area. Since obtaining approval from KEZAD Group for the required modifications and the industrial license in October, NWTN has completed 80% of the equipment installation and tooling in the facility, including the robots used for the vision system and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) calibration. The full semi-knock down (SKD) management and operations team will be in place by the middle of December, 2022, and the facility will be fully operational by the end of this year.

The annual capacity of the facility will initially be 5,000-10,000 units for the semi-knock down electric vehicles to meet rapidly increasing demand for new energy vehicles and sustainable transport options in the UAE and in other nations in the Middle East and North Africa. In phase two, NWTN will introduce several new electric vehicle models and expand capacity to 50,000 units annually with an expected start date in the first quarter of 2024.

The development of NWTN’s EV assembly facility has gained strong support from the UAE government and agencies, and is fully aligned with UAE’s “Net Zero 2050” strategic initiative that plans to achieve net-zero emission by 2050 with investments of over 600 billion Dirhams (US$160 billion) in renewable energy and sustainable technologies. The completion and future expansion of NWTN’s facility will kick off the long-term development of the local electric vehicle research and development, manufacturing, supply chain establishment, and further into innovations in energy generation, usage, transportation and storage in the region.

With increasing accessibility and affordability of sustainable energy supported by infrastructures such as NWTN’s KEZAD plant, the UAE’s transformation towards a sustainable and intelligent future will be significantly accelerated.

NWTN recently completed a merger with East Stone Acquisition Corporation, a publicly traded special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), and was listed on the NASDAQ exchange on November 14.

Philips advances AI-powered diagnostic systems and transformative workflow solutions at RSNA 2022

November 27, 2022

Latest innovations feature vendor-neutral solutions to help reduce clinical complexity and enhance operational efficiency to address workforce shortages and staff burnout and enable a clear care pathway for every patient

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Chicago, USA – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, today announced its portfolio of smart diagnostic systems and transformative workflow solutions featured at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting (November 27 – December 1, Chicago, USA). Powered by AI, the company will showcase its latest systems and informatics solutions designed for providers to efficiently deliver patient-centric, high-quality imaging services.

Overwhelming volume of radiology data compounding staff shortages and burnout
Radiology plays a critical role in diagnosing and guiding patients into the right treatment plans. However, with increasing staff shortages and workloads, radiologists and staff continue to struggle to manage and interpret the huge volume of data captured to provide quality care for each patient. In the recent Future Health Index 2022 report commissioned by Philips, 24% of radiology leaders surveyed stated that managing the sheer volume of data available to them is their top data-related issue, with nearly two-thirds (65%) indicating their staff are overwhelmed by data overload.

“With 47% of radiologists experiencing burnout [1], our customers are looking for innovations to help reduce their workloads and seamlessly integrate into their day-to-day operations,” said Kees Wesdorp, Chief Business Leader of Precision Diagnosis at Philips. “With smart intelligence built into imaging systems and informatics across the radiology workflow, Philips’ integrated solutions condense large volumes of data into patient-centric actionable insights for earlier and more definitive diagnosis and treatment.”

AI-powered solutions enhance operational efficiencies and simplify complex workflows
Some of the biggest challenges facing radiology leaders today are driven by managing complex, disconnected workflows which can negatively impact patient care, staff experience, outcomes, and cost. Visitors to the Philips booth (6730) at RSNA will see how the company’s latest interoperable and vendor-neutral operational solutions and strong portfolio of smart connected imaging systems help streamline and transform the radiology workflow to improve patient and staff experience; advance clinical and diagnostic confidence for better health outcomes; and drive a sustainable, resilient diagnostic infrastructure to help lower the cost of care. Featured at RSNA will be Philips’ AI-enabled technology [2] that automates and accelerates routine and repetitive tasks to generate patient-centric insights from large volumes of data to help improve productivity.

Solutions include Philips Imaging Orchestrator – ROCC (Radiology Operations Command Center) and Philips Ultrasound Collaboration Live, both pioneering the virtualization of radiology, extending care and collaboration beyond traditional models. Philips Imaging Orchestrator – ROCC, a vendor-neutral, multi-modality, multi-site telepresence solution provides advanced tele-acquisition capabilities and seamlessly connects imaging experts at a command center with technologists at scanning locations across an organization. Philips Ultrasound Collaboration Live tele-ultrasound, available on Philips ultrasound systems – EPIQ Elite and Affiniti – allows teams to securely video stream from their ultrasound system to a PC or mobile device for remote, on-demand access to clinical expertise regardless of location.

Philips will also introduce the latest in AI-enabled image interpretation to help prioritize patient worklists based on clinical outcomes and expand diagnostic capabilities with its new Philips Advanced Visualization Workspace, with enhanced features to automate reporting and help drive earlier and more definitive diagnosis. Also featured is Philips Enterprise Performance Analytics – PerformanceBridge to enhance operational decision-making through a vendor-neutral, real-time data analysis solution to help improve productivity and reduce costs.

Smart connected imaging systems advance clinical and diagnostic confidence
New at RSNA, Philips’ AI-powered MR SmartSpeed is designed to increase speed, image quality, and productivity and drive diagnostic confidence with improved image resolution via the AI reconstruction algorithm. It utilizes Philips’ state-of-the-art speed engine and an award-winning [3] AI reconstruction technology delivered at the source of the MR signal to ensure no data loss. SmartSpeed joins the company’s expanding portfolio of AI-driven MR solutions which includes AI-based touchless patient sensing, SmartExam, and MR Workspace. Philips will also showcase MR 5300, Philips’ newest BlueSeal Magnet, and industry-first wide bore helium-free operations system design for sustainable imaging at lower site costs without image quality or clinical compromises.

Philips will spotlight its award-winning Spectral CT 7500, the company’s latest dual-detector CT system helping radiologists better characterize disease and reduce scan times at the same dose levels as conventional scans. Used in oncology imaging, cardiac imaging, and interventional radiology, the system has demonstrated a 34% reduction in time to diagnosis, a 25% reduction in repeat scans and a 30% reduction in follow-up scans [4]. Philips will also demonstrate its latest innovations in minimally-invasive care with the company’s SmartCT 3D suite of interventional tools including its Azurion 7 C20 with FlexArm Image-Guided Therapy System and Zenition 70 Mobile C-arm with Flat Detector.

Philips will also introduce the Ultrasound Compact 5000 Series system and the Philips Lumify Handheld Ultrasound, now featuring pulse wave Doppler for all physicians – from cardiologists and radiologists to emergency care – to quickly assess hemodynamics in cardiac function anytime, anywhere. Also making its first appearance at RSNA is Philips Fluoroscopy 7000 N – ProxiDiagnost N90, combining digital radiography and high-end nearby fluoroscopy to help enhance clinical confidence and improve patient and staff satisfaction.

Future fit portfolio for Radiology
Underpinning each of these innovations is Philips’ commitment to deliver solutions that support a sustainable, resilient diagnostic infrastructure to help hospitals receive ongoing value from their investments. An integrated suite of innovative service models and smart digital solutions helps maximize the lifespan and capabilities of Philips’ systems, bringing more value to healthcare providers, while increasing circularity, and demonstrated by leading technology like Philips helium-free MRI system, Philips MR – Ingenia Ambition 1.5T, which includes the industry’s first and only fully-sealed magnet technology, BlueSeal.

Philips corporate symposia sessions at RSNA
Philips will host two symposia sessions during RSNA. On Monday, November 28 at 7:00 – 8:00am CST, Kees Wesdorp will facilitate a panel session during a virtual symposium to discuss “Decarbonizing radiology: a shared mandate,” featuring leading experts from around the world discussing mandates for sustainable, responsible radiology best practices. On Tuesday, November 29 at 9:30am CST, Niccolò Stefani, Head of Clinical Strategy at Philips, will facilitate a live, in-person discussion with radiology leaders from across the globe on how they are leveraging digital technology to manage the growing workforce shortages and increased imaging demands.

Visit Philips at RSNA 2022 to learn more about the company’s latest smart integrated diagnostic systems and connected workflows helping to advance precision diagnosis and treatment. Join Philips in person at booth #6730 at RSNA, or virtually via the Philips interactive online radiology experience and follow @PhilipsLiveFrom for #RSNA22 updates throughout the event.
