ROME, Nov. 07, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Strengthening the bridge between Italy and the US with skills, relations and new business opportunities, as strategic assets of a new “economic and educational diplomacy” is the goal of Luiss University’s mission in the United States.

The delegation includes Vice President Paola Severino, Rector Andrea Prencipe, Deputy Rector for Internationalisation Raffaele Marchetti and the president of Luiss Alumni Association (ALL), Andrea Battista.

One of the mission’s goals is launching the Luiss US Foundation which will serve as an operational hub for fundraising and for seeking new stakeholders on American soil. It will enable the University to develop enhanced cooperation with American universities, companies, and civil society organizations to become a physical and cultural milestone for the large Italian-American community in the US.

To achieve these objectives, the new Foundation will draw on ideas and resources from the University’s Alumni community, a network of more than 54,000 professionals on five continents who, during this mission, will inaugurate the new Washington Chapter. It will add to those already present in New York and California. The new office in the US capital will be headed by Giuliana Canè, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

It will operate through an international partnership of the world’s most prestigious universities and business associations that – in addition to Luiss – will include George Washington University (GWU) in the US, SciencesPo Uni, Ottawa, Canada; Hertie School in Berlin, Germany; King’s College London, UK; and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium.

“Luiss is proud to contribute to the writing of a new page in the story of Rome-Washington relations, a seminal and emblematic step, especially in these times of high uncertainty. Connecting the Higher education system and the industrial systems of our countries with this ideal bridge, extended to our closest continental partners, means building a solid basis for the creation of fundamental new skills and opportunities for generating economic growth and a common vision of the world,” declared University Vice President Paola Severino.

On the occasion of the US mission, “NIAF-Luiss Guido Carli” scholarships has been launched. Funded by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), they will enable US students of Italian descent to attend Luiss.

“These new Luiss initiatives in the United States consolidate and accelerate our internationalization path, which, to date, counts more than 315 partner universities in 64 countries,” said Rector Andrea Prencipe, who added: “The global approach of our Athenaeum continues, therefore, along two lines: preparing students with an international mindset and interdisciplinary knowledge to face the complexity of future challenges, and strengthening our relations with companies and institutions present overseas, also through the network of Luiss Alumni, true ambassadors of our University.”

According to the prestigious QS World University 2022 ranking, Luiss Guido Carli University is the 1st in Italy by Subject, 22nd in the world for Political and International Studies and in the Top 100 for the Social Sciences and Management.

Success for Case IH and New Holland at SIMA 2022

London, November 7, 2022

Held in Paris, France from November 6 to November 10, SIMA is the showcase for the latest technological innovations in the agricultural world. This is the centenary edition of the agricultural show.

The Brands have won Farm Machine 2023 titles on the opening day. Case IH received the award for its Quadtrac AFS Connect™ tractor range in the “XXL” category. Its VisionViewTM cab features the comfort of an open field tractor within a structure that has to maneuver in narrow settings.

New Holland has also won two Bronze Medals in the SIMA Innovation Awards, which recognize breakthrough products, services, and tech across five categories. The From Harvest to Storage Category-medal winning Grain Cam™ Mobile Grain Loss Calculator app helps farmers by using photographic data to calculate the percentage of grain lost during harvesting, generating a report that informs optimized machine settings to increase yield. The Brand also received a medal in the Livestock, Renewable Energy Category for its role in promoting a circular economy through its farm-based fuel production model for tractors that contributes to a negative carbon footprint. Acronis Disrupts Market with Announcement of New, Simplified MSP-class EDR Solution

Latest Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud release further democratizes advanced security solutions with effective protection for data, applications, and systems under one centralized platform

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 07, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Live from their annual #CyberFit Summit, Acronis, the global leader in Cyber Protection, today introduces its new product, Acronis Advanced Security + EDR for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud. Advanced Security + EDR delivers an innovative approach to effective threat detection, containment and remediation by reducing the complexity present in other EDR solutions

Following industry-established standards and mapping to the MITRE ATT&CK® framework, Acronis Advanced Security + EDR simplifies the complex solutions required to keep pace with today’s sophisticated threat landscape. It does this by leveraging its unified platform approach which allows IT teams to detect and understand advanced attacks, and then recover rapidly using features like attack-specific, one-click rollback. By correlating events, analyzing attack chains and presenting human-friendly, guided interpretations, companies dramatically reduce the time-tax on highly specialized (and expensive) security analysts and the time-to-remediate (TTR) for business operations.

This announcement follows a string of developments from the company starting with the reveal of their innovative, behavioral-based DLP product at RSAC 2022 in June and more recently, their earned Approved badge from AV-TEST for Corporate Endpoint Protection on macOS.

“Acronis has been a great fit for us for solid endpoint protection,” said Dave Millier, CSO at Quick Intelligence. “The single agent playing double-duty was a key deciding factor in choosing to go with Acronis. We’re super excited to see that EDR is coming to that same agent as it will help us take our customer’s cyber protection to the next level, without having to rely on another vendor and another agent. Acronis just keeps innovating and we keep benefiting.”

Acronis Advanced Security + EDR is part of the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud platform that enables businesses and their Service Providers to deliver holistic protection across the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework Core. This new entry adds to Acronis cyber defenses with:

  • ML-driven event correlation and interpretation with attack chain visibility mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK®
  • Integrated response capabilities including one-click, attack-specific rollbacks
  • The ability to investigate, remediate, recover, and close security gaps integrated with more features across the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud platform
  • Reduced complexity and cost via rapid turn-up via the single Acronis console and unified agent offering advanced security at just a click away – without deploying more agents or the operational challenges of integration with disparate, third-party products

In addition to its innovative approach to ensure all businesses have more access to sophisticated technologies for better protection, Acronis is uniquely poised to enable their extensive, global network of managed service provider partners to offer MDR services to down-market clients at healthy margins and compelling client price points while avoiding the high-end, licensing costs and MDR competition for their clients from pure-play security vendors

Marco Monaco at Acronis Partner and Italian Managed Service Provider, MEGABIT shared, “Since the protection is well priced and the performance is good, we are extending Acronis more and more among our customers since it offers with just one agent practically every service available – which is a beautiful thing, especially for us MSPsWe are excited about EDR and can’t wait to try it.”

According to the August Acronis Cyber Protection Operation Centers Report, global ransomware damages are estimated to exceed $30 billion by 2023. Ransomware continues to be the number one threat to large and medium-sized businesses. Acronis is putting a large dent in the success of ransomware attacks with its holistic, NIST-approach to business continuity, and in the number of phishing, malware, and advanced attack URLs, blocking 21 million URLs on endpoints in Q2 2022 alone.

“EDR technology is an essential addition to any cybersecurity stance,” said Candid Wüest, VP of Acronis Research “For example, we know that previously unknown zero-day exploits account for 80% of breaches.1 We’re facing this down by focusing on real-world security and business outcomes for our customers and partners as our top priority with fast and easy remediation being of the utmost importance.”

The Acronis Advanced Security + EDR early access program will be available in December for Acronis partners and generally available in Q1-2023.

Student sponsorship programme helps promote Vietnam-Cambodia friendship

Starting 10 years ago with the engagement of 12 families who sponsored 34 Cambodian students in Vietnam, the “sowing the seeds of friendship” programme has now attracted more than 100 families, organisations and individuals supporting nearly 500 students from the neighbouring country, according to Vice President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association Le Tuan Khanh.

The official was addressing a November 6 conference to review the implementation of the programme in southern Binh Phuoc province which borders Cambodia. The event, part of the sixth edition of the Vietnam – Cambodia people’s friendship meeting and cooperation programme, drew Vice President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and Chairwoman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam An, and Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth.

Khanh said that over the past decade, numerous activities have been organised to assist thousands of Cambodian students, including providing rewards, gifts, and scholarships to the students; organising meetings, friendship exchanges, field trips, and fact-finding tours for them; and supporting them with essential supplies in their study and stay in Vietnam.

Participants agreed that through the activities, the relationship between the sponsors and Cambodian students have been strengthened. As a result, the majority of the students have become more confident and showed strong academic performance. After their study in Vietnam, they have found stable jobs and kept regular contacts with their Vietnamese sponsors.

Nguyen Thi Thanh, President of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, said that the programme has helped strengthen the political trust, solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, while educating the youth of the two countries on the bilateral friendship, enhancing their sense of responsibility in preserving and reinforcing the long-lasting traditional solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Tien, Chairman of the Thai Binh Medical University, said during 40 years of training Cambodian students, the university has provided great support to them, especially in Vietnamese language learning.

At the event, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association presented the “For Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship” insignia to 75 individuals in recognition of their contributions to the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and certificates of merit to six collectives and individuals for their active involvement in the “sowing the seeds of friendship” programme in the 2012-2022 period./.
